What Is TPI Certification, and How Does It Benefit Golfers?

A TPI screen connects how your body moves to how you swing. If you have ever been told to "just work on your hip turn" without anyone checking whether your hips can actually turn, you already understand why that gap matters. TPI certification exists to close it.

What TPI certification actually means

TPI, or Titleist Performance Institute, trains golf professionals and medical providers to evaluate the physical side of the golf swing. Founder Jodi Young is TPI-certified, which means she has been trained to screen the specific movement patterns that drive an efficient, repeatable swing: hip and shoulder rotation, posture, balance, and how well your body sequences power from the ground up.

The goal of a TPI screen is not to fix your swing itself. That is your golf instructor's job. Our job is to find out whether your body has the mobility, stability, and strength to actually execute the swing your instructor is teaching you. When those two pieces are addressed together, both golf lessons and physical therapy work better.

Why this matters for your golf game

Many swing faults that instructors see on the lesson tee are not swing faults at all. They are compensations for a physical limitation. A golfer who cannot rotate through the hips will often lift out of the swing or reverse-spine, not because they lack skill, but because their body will not allow the correct motion. A TPI screen identifies exactly which physical limitation is driving the pattern, so the fix targets the real cause instead of the symptom.

This matters just as much for injury prevention as it does for performance. A body that is forced to compensate round after round is a body that eventually breaks down, often in the lower back, hips, or shoulders.

What a session looks like

We bring the TPI screen to you, in the comfort of your own home, and walk through the same movement assessments used at the highest levels of the game. From there, we build a plan around what your body specifically needs, whether that is more thoracic rotation, better hip mobility, improved balance, or core stability through the swing. As your body changes, your golf game has a real chance to change with it.

If you want a swing that holds up round after round and season after season, let's start with an honest look at how your body moves.
